togetheron.earth
An independent, non-commercial nature atlas for exploring publicly documented wildlife observations in urban Tokyo.
東京の公開された生物観察記録を探索する、独立した非営利の自然マップです。
Explore the atlas
The interactive application offers a map and taxon list, English/Japanese name search, taxonomic and date filters, observation details, licensed sighting photographs and filter-aware statistics. Selecting a taxon shows its sighting photo, details and recorded locations. Selecting a location opens that sighting on the map. Its map layers describe observations and recording coverage.
The map and filters require JavaScript and browser interaction. This HTML overview and the linked dataset metadata are available without running JavaScript; they cannot reproduce or verify the map’s appearance or interactive behaviour.
Data and scientific limits
The published snapshot covers 2025 within the rectangular urban Tokyo pilot area, 35.55–35.83° N and 139.40–139.95° E. This is not Tokyo’s administrative boundary or a complete biodiversity inventory. Source observations are research-grade iNaturalist records with public, unobscured coordinates.
Records reflect observer effort and sampling choices. Counts do not measure wildlife abundance, and sparse records do not establish absence or low biodiversity. Observed taxa are not necessarily confirmed species. Photographs retain individual licence and attribution information in the application.

Recording and privacy
The recording flow prepares photos, editable time/location and notes as local browser drafts. Nothing is uploaded automatically; posting is completed separately on iNaturalist. Local erasure controls are available in Privacy & device data. Private device drafts are not part of the public dataset or accessible through this page.
